About Mono Arts Council (MAC)

MAC provides visual and performing arts education for K-12 students in-school, after-school, and during the summer. We ensure every student in Mono County has access to this VITAL part of their education. Arts education increases test scores and attendance. Making art supports good mental health and provides opportunities for social-emotional learning. Our adult programs, including Art & Wine, the gallery, the Mammoth Celebrates the Arts Festival and the June Lake Jam Fest, help us raise money and awareness for arts education and gives local artists a place to showcase their talents.

Some of the extraordinary musicians that perform at JLJF each year are invited by MAC to come to June Lake a day or two before the start of Jam Fest weekend to perform at school assemblies located in the rural and remote communities of Mono County. This program was inspired by one of our favorite bands GrooveSession, when in 2015, they asked if they could perform at local schools while they were here. We thought that was a fabulous idea! These assemblies are very popular with the students and school staff who have little to no opportunities to experience live music. These inspiring performances are now an integral part of Jam Fest weekend and further the mission of Mono Arts Council to provide access to the arts.
